SHORTCUTZ LUANDA | SHORTCUTZ NETWORK
Every year, the Shortcutz Luanda team focuses its efforts on responding to the initiative of its direct partner, Shortcutz Amsterdam, in order to strengthen ties within the network and test creative and communication products that inspire the platform in Angola. The aim is to bring good cinema to places where it is less likely to be seen or to commercial cinemas in free sessions. This will be done through short films, without thematic, aesthetic or genre restrictions. The motto of Shortcutz Luanda was, first of all, to bring this aesthetic to an audience thirsty for novelty and, on the other hand, still lacking in content. In addition, there seemed to be an urgent need for a democratic and transparent vote. The format of the competitions allows for this, and this year we inaugurated a cycle that we intend to continue and develop within the film community. In addition to providing cultural content to the city of Luanda, and possibly extending the network to other Angolan cities, we want to bring the educational and critical component to help establish the brand in the territory. We’ve been doing this on a voluntary basis, but we’ve seen the reach and interest of the artistic and journalistic community grow. This has led us to the need to communicate more and better, so that our sessions are marked as a fixed agenda for Shortcutz cities.
